Best Way to Drink Maestro Dobel Diamante

"Maestro Dobel shines when served on the rocks. Its velvety smoothness combined with a subtle peppery undertone mellows further when chilled.", states Tequila expert Neil Coleman.

Especially favored by the youth in Mexico, Dobel's popularity stems from its easy-drinking nature.

Maestro Dobel, categorized as a Cristalino Tequila, is a blend of Extra Añejo, Añejo, and Reposado Tequilas that undergoes aging in Balkan new white wood barrels, followed by filtering.

This process softens its taste, removing the amber tint commonly seen in aged Tequilas, making it a nice sipper for both newcomers and seasoned Tequila enthusiasts.

To relish its chilled version, consider using large ice cubes to minimize dilution.

Since Maestro Dobel has a modest 80 proof (40% ABV), it's best to use slow-melting ice or whiskey stones, ensuring the taste remains intact.

This Tequila can be stored in the fridge and is delightful when served chilled.

Glassware Preference

Utilize whiskey rocks to enjoy Maestro Dobel by using a glass that can accommodate large ice cubes.

This glass is readily available and cost-effective, eliminating the need for extravagant glassware.

Tequila Shots

I typically recommend cheaper Tequilas for shots yet Maestro Dobel works as a shooter as it barely burns on the way down.

Tasting Notes

The nose provides hints of lemongrass, vanilla, and a bit of alcohol.

The taste brings the flavor of agave, mixed with some vanilla and wood, and just a little bit of pepper.

The taste sticks around for a while, feeling pleasantly warm and slightly peppery at the end.

Cocktails

While Maestro Dobel is fantastic on its own, it works in cocktails yet I recommend Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver which is cheaper and better suited for mixed drinks:

Cristalino Margarita:

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz agave syrup

Combine and shake, then pour into a chilled glass with a lime garnish.

Cristalino Sunrise:

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 4 oz fresh orange juice
  • Splash of grenadine

Mix in a glass with ice and garnish with an orange slice.

Food Pairings

Pairing Maestro Dobel with the right dish enhances the entire experience:

  • Seared Scallops with Citrus Glaze: Complements the Tequila's citrusy notes.
  • Spicy Chicken Tinga Tacos: Matches the Tequila's earthy undertones.
  • Flan with Caramel Sauce: Enhances the Tequila's sweet and creamy side.
  • Grilled Shrimp with Lime and Cilantro: The zestiness goes hand in hand with Maestro Dobel.

How to Store it

  • For best results, store Maestro Dobel upright in a dark, cool place, away from sunlight.
  • Ensure the bottle is tightly sealed.
  • Consume swiftly once the level drops to 25% as it might start developing odd flavors.

Quick Note: Running a pub and liquor store provides me ample access to various spirits, in addition, I moonlight as an agave spirits distiller. I assess them using customer feedback, expert opinions and online research.
