Best Way to Drink 1800 Tequila
“1800 Tequila offers a smooth and sweet profile, making it a versatile spirit whether enjoyed neat, over ice, or as a key ingredient in cocktails. Its smoothness particularly shines in mixed drinks, positioning it as an excellent option for crafting smooth, well-balanced cocktails.”, suggests Tequila expert Neil Coleman.
With its straightforward sweetness and lack of intricate complexity, 1800 serves as an inviting introduction for those new to Tequila and eager to explore the nuances of agave-based spirits.
On the Rocks

1800 Tequila has a somewhat light body, so it’s best enjoyed over large ice cubes to prevent over-dilution.
At a modest 80 proof (40% ABV) in the United States and a slightly lower 38% ABV in Mexico, adding too much water can lead to a diluted, less vibrant Tequila experience.
To preserve its character, avoid watering it down excessively to keep it from becoming too thin and lackluster.
Shots

1800 is perfect for smooth Tequila shots that won’t burn as they go down.
While the traditional salt and lime aren’t necessary, they do add flair to the ritual.
However, an orange slice may be a better companion, as its sweetness complements the agave spirit nicely.
For the best experience, serve it at room temperature or chill the glass beforehand for a refreshing shot.
Tasting Profile
On the nose, a soft agave scent leads, accompanied by hints of black pepper and citrus, with a slight alcohol aroma that dissipates swiftly.
The flavor profile is smooth, marked by a delightful sweetness that amplifies the characteristic agave taste, with an understated orange nuance and a whisper of black pepper.
The finish is brief, offering only a mild warmth and a faint echo of black pepper.
Glassware
There’s no necessity for elaborate glassware when drinking a straightforward Tequila like 1800.
A simple shot glass or a whiskey rocks glass suffices, especially if you prefer to accompany it with a generous serving of ice.
Cocktails

1800’s versatility makes it a fantastic base for innovative cocktails.
Here are a few creative cocktails:
Spiced Apple Martini:
- 2 oz Tequila
- 1 oz apple cider
- 0.5 oz cinnamon syrup
- A slice of apple and a cinnamon stick for garnish
Instructions: Shake 1800 Tequila, apple cider, and cinnamon syrup with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with an apple slice and a cinnamon stick.
Grapefruit Sage Spritz:
- 2 oz Tequila
- 3 oz fresh grapefruit juice
- 0.5 oz sage simple syrup

- A sprig of sage for garnish
Instructions: Combine 1800 Tequila, grapefruit juice, and sage syrup in a glass filled with ice. Top with soda water and garnish with a sage sprig.
Pineapple Margarita:
- 2 oz 1800 Tequila
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 0.5 oz mezcal
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- A slice of pineapple for garnish
Instructions: Shake 1800 Tequila, pineapple juice, mezcal, and lime juice with ice. Strain into a glass rimmed with salt and filled with ice. Garnish with a pineapple slice.
Food Pairings

The mild flavors of 1800 Tequila complement a variety of foods:
Spicy Chicken Tacos:
The heat from the tacos is mellowed by the smoothness of the Tequila.
Dark Chocolate:
A piece of rich dark chocolate brings out the sweeter, nuanced flavors of the Tequila.
Grilled Pineapple:
The charred sweetness of the pineapple pairs beautifully with the spirit’s smoky undertones.
Storing Your Bottle
Proper storage ensures the longevity of 1800 Tequila’s quality:
- Store: In a cool, dark place.
- Position: Upright to avoid cork damage.
- Seal: Tightly to preserve flavors.
- Consume: Preferably within a few months of opening for peak taste.
