Best Way to Drink 1800 Reposado Tequila
"1800 Reposado is primarily favored for its role in cocktails, where its peppery zest and alcoholic taste can invigorate a drink. Its cost-effectiveness further underscores its suitability for mixed beverages.", suggests Tequila expert Neil Coleman.
However, it falls short as a sipping Reposado Tequila or when served on the rocks, owing to its pronounced alcoholic bite.
The boozy taste and peppery flavors can overshadow the more subtle notes, making it a less-than-ideal choice for neat consumption, despite 1800's generally solid reputation.
Although it's reasonably priced, there are alternatives in the same price bracket that might offer a more balanced and enjoyable sipping experience.

On the Rocks

Serving it over ice marginally enhances the experience, but it still doesn't quite reach the level of a pleasant sipper.
If you prefer your Tequila over ice, I recommend using large cubes to minimize dilution, as this Tequila is already somewhat lacking in body and proof.
Selecting the Right Glassware
1800 Reposado doesn't necessitate fancy glassware; a standard shot glass is perfectly adequate.
Tasting Notes
The aroma hints at bourbon, yet the taste falls short.
Its watery consistency and dominant alcohol heat overshadow the enjoyable butterscotch and toasted oak nuances.
The finish is mercifully brief, leaving a faint smoky trace.
Cocktails

1800 Reposado works well as a mixer as blending with other ingredients hides its many flaws.
- Reposado Sunrise: Layer 1800 Reposado, fresh orange juice, and a splash of grenadine for a colorful and fruity cocktail.
- Reposado Mojito: Muddle fresh mint and lime with agave syrup, then shake with 1800 Reposado and top with club soda for a refreshing herbal cocktail.
- Smoky Paloma: Add a splash of mezcal to the classic Paloma recipe with 1800 Reposado for a subtle smoky twist.
Food Pairings

1800 Reposado is best enjoyed with laid-back, casual fare, the kind you'd find at a lively tailgate party. Here are some ideas:
- Spicy Nachos: The peppery kick of 1800 Reposado complements the heat of jalapeño-laden nachos.
- Grilled Corn: The char from the grill on the corn echoes the smoky notes in the tequila.
- Buffalo Wings: The bold flavors of spicy buffalo sauce are a great match for the robust character of 1800 Reposado.
- Street Tacos: Simple tacos with fresh toppings bring out the earthy agave notes in the tequila.
Storing the Bottle
Tequila has an indefinite shelf-life following these instructions:
- Store in a cool, dark location
- Seal tightly to preserve quality
- Consume within a few months of opening for the best flavor
Quick Note: Running a pub and liquor store provides me ample access to various spirits, in addition, I moonlight as an agave spirits distiller. I assess them using customer feedback, expert opinions and online research.
