Best way to drink Casamigos Blanco
"Casamigos Blanco truly shines when enjoyed neat or poured over large ice cubes to minimize dilution. Given that it's bottled at a moderate 80-proof (40% ABV), adding too much water can quickly take away its vibrant character, making it bland.", mentions Tequila expert Neil Coleman.
For an extra refreshing experience, you can store the bottle in the fridge or even chill your glass in the freezer.
This Tequila is notably smooth and sweet, which has undoubtedly contributed to its widespread popularity.
It's an easy-to-drink choice that many favor.

On the Rocks
Enjoying Casamigos on the rocks is a great choice, but I recommend using large ice cubes to minimize dilution.
Since it's bottled at a modest 80-proof, excessive dilution can significantly weaken its flavor profile.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Casamigos Blanco has a light vanilla smell with small hints of green plants and mint.
Palate: When you taste it, it's smooth with a strong taste of vanilla and mint.
Finish: The aftertaste is long and leaves you with a pleasant mix of vanilla and mint.
Taking Shots
Casamigos Blanco is ideally enjoyed when sipped.
However, if you're keen on having it as a shot, it's smooth enough not to burn, and, being 100% agave, it shouldn't result in a nasty hangover.
While I usually opt for more budget-friendly Tequilas for shots, using Casamigos Blanco in this way is certainly acceptable.
Glassware Selection
Simplicity reigns supreme.
A straightforward Tequila glass or a minimalist tumbler will do the job.
These vessels best capture the true essence of Casamigos Blanco.
Tequila Cocktails
Let’s dive into some innovative mixes:
Citrus Splash:
- 2 oz Tequila
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz agave nectar
- 3-4 fresh mint leaves
Instructions: Muddle mint leaves in a shaker. Introduce the rest of the components with ice. Vigorously shake and strain into a glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon twist and a mint sprig.
Blanco Berry Fusion:
- 2 oz Tequila
- 2-3 fresh strawberries
- 3 basil leaves
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
Instructions: Press strawberries and basil in a shaker. Infuse the other ingredients with ice. Shake and strain into a glass brimming with ice. Adorn with a strawberry slice and a basil leaf.
Tropical Cooler
- 2 oz Tequila
- 2 oz fresh pineapple juice
- 1 oz coconut water
- A pinch of sea salt
Instructions: Blend all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into an iced glass. Embellish with a pineapple wedge.
Food Pairings
Casamigos pairs well with a variety of foods, especially those with bold, fresh flavors.
Here are five food pairings that go well with Casamigos Blanco:

- Ceviche: The classic choice. The bright acidity and fresh flavors of ceviche, typically made with citrus-marinated fish, lime juice, cilantro, and fresh peppers, complement the light and refreshing profile of Casamigos Blanco. The citrus notes in both the ceviche and the tequila enhance each other.
- Chicken or Fish Tacos: Lightly seasoned and grilled chicken or fish tacos, topped with fresh salsa or a mango-avocado salsa, can beautifully accompany the smoothness of Casamigos. The lightness of the protein and the freshness of the toppings mirror the tequila's crispness.
- Guacamole and Chips: A simple, yet perfect pairing. The creaminess of the guacamole, with its combination of avocado, onion, tomato, and lime, pairs nicely with the clean, agave-forward flavor of this Tequila.
- Grilled Vegetables: Char-grilled vegetables like bell peppers, asparagus, and zucchini, seasoned with a touch of lime and salt, can complement the herbal and citrus notes of the tequila. The grilling process brings out a natural sweetness in the vegetables that balances the tequila's crispness.
- Spicy Sushi Rolls: Sushi with a bit of a kick, such as a spicy tuna roll, can be a great pairing. The heat from the sushi and the cooling effect of the tequila create a harmonious balance, with the Blanco's smoothness soothing the spiciness of the roll.
Storing Your Bottle
To preserve Casamigos Blanco's essence:
- Stored: In a shaded, cool environment, devoid of direct sunlight.
- Positioned: Vertically to ensure no contact with the cap.
- Sealed: Firmly, to fend off any external air.
When you approach the last quarter of the bottle, it's optimal to consume it soon to retain its authentic taste.
Quick Note: Running a pub and liquor store provides me ample access to various spirits, in addition, I moonlight as an agave spirits distiller. I assess them using customer feedback, expert opinions and online research.
