Best Way to Drink Milagro Tequila

Milagro Silver is a perfect pick for creating robust cocktails.

Neil Coleman, an old Tequila expert states it clearly: "While it's not the best for sipping, it's outstanding in Margaritas and probably my top choice for mixing."

Although not the smoothest, its warm, peppery character is exactly what adds intrigue to Tequila-based recipes.

Moreover, its affordability, especially for a 100% blue Weber agave Tequila, makes it an excellent choice for experimenting with various Tequila mixed drinks.

On the Rocks

Milagro is more enjoyable when served over ice, as the chill tempers its heat.

I recommend using large ice cubes to minimize dilution, since it's only 80-proof and excessive watering down can diminish its flavor.

Choosing the Right Glass

Milagro doesn't need elaborate glassware, so a simple "caballito" (Tequila glass) will suffice, or you can use a whiskey tumbler if you prefer it chilled.

Tequila Shots

Milagro is well-suited for those who don't mind a bit of warmth as they shoot.

Ideally, shots should be taken at room temperature, with lemon and salt ready, although I prefer having a sliced orange at hand.

Tasting Notes

Milagro first offers an agave scent, then unfolds into a potent alcoholic aroma accented with hints of citrus and black pepper.

On tasting, it starts with a warm, spicy sensation, which then softens into a rich blend of agave, cinnamon, and vanilla flavors.

Its finish is of medium duration, leaving a warm and somewhat sweet aftertaste.

Food Pairings

Pairing a budget-friendly Silver Tequila with casual foods can enhance both the drink and the meal. Here are five food pairings that complement the crisp, clean flavors of Blanco Tequila:

Fish Tacos

  • The light and fresh flavors of fish tacos, especially when topped with a tangy slaw or a squeeze of lime, pair wonderfully with the zesty character of Silver Tequila. The Tequila's clean taste can cut through the richness of the fish.

Guacamole and Chips

  • The creamy texture and rich taste of guacamole, combined with the crunch of tortilla chips, match well with the sharpness of Silver Tequila. The Tequila can enhance the fresh flavors of the guacamole's ingredients like avocado, cilantro, and lime.

Chicken Quesadillas

  • The melty cheese and seasoned chicken in quesadillas are a great match for Blanco Tequila. The Tequila can complement the spices in the chicken while balancing the creaminess of the cheese.

Grilled Shrimp

  • Grilled shrimp, seasoned with lime and chili, make a perfect pairing with Silver Tequila. The Tequila's crispness contrasts nicely with the smoky and slightly spicy flavors of the shrimp.

Ceviche

  • The citrusy and refreshing flavors of ceviche, a dish made with raw fish cured in lime juice and seasoned with onions, cilantro, and chili peppers, are beautifully complemented by the clean, bright notes of SilverTequila.

These pairings allow for a casual yet delicious experience, where the distinct qualities of the Blanco Tequila are showcased alongside simple, flavorful dishes.

Storage Guidelines

  • Storage: Place the bottle in an upright position in a cool area with subdued lighting to preserve its flavor and clarity.
  • Sealing: Always securely close the bottle post-use.
  • Consumption: Even though agave spirits remain stable, for the best taste, it is preferable to consume them within a reasonable timeframe.

Quick Note: Running a pub and liquor store provides me ample access to various spirits, in addition, I moonlight as an agave spirits distiller. I assess them using customer feedback, expert opinions and online research.
