Aroma:

Hornitos Reposado presents a light aroma where oak takes center stage, followed by subtle hints of banana and mango. Unfortunately, a faint gasoline-like note is also present.

Taste Profile:

The first sip reveals a distinct jalapeno flavor, alongside a moderate black pepper kick. Oak, alcohol, and earthy notes complete the mix.

The Finish:

The finish is relatively short, leaving a touch of warmth, caramel, and lingering black pepper.

My View:

While not my top choice for personal purchase, Hornitos Reposado is still drinkable. It might lack remarkable flavor, but its affordability and 100% agave content make it a reasonable option for crafting budget-friendly Reposado cocktails.

Bonus Facts:

  • Hornitos Reposado is aged for two months in oak barrels previously used for Hornitos Plata tequila.
  • Produced at the Sauza Distillery alongside Sauza Tequila and Tres Generaciones.
  • Sauza, established in 1873, is one of Mexico's oldest tequila distilleries, currently owned by Beam Suntory under Suntory Holdings from Japan.
