  • Nose: Agave, earth, mineral
  • Palate: Agave, olive, cinnamon, anise
  • Alcohol content: 84 proof (42% ABV)
  • How to drink: Neat, rocks

Aromatic with roasted agave, subtle earth, and a hint of salt, Siete Decadas is a smooth and creamy tequila. Cooked agave flavors dominate the palate, accented by cinnamon, anise, and black pepper. The finish is long and warm, lingering with agave and spice.

This special edition from 7 Leguas celebrates their 70th anniversary with wild "criollo" agaves, known for their sweetness. A must-try for any tequila lover, it makes a perfect gift (or a delightful birthday treat, as in my case).

Sipping Siete Leguas Blanco: A Pure Agave Experience

  • Nose: Agave, black pepper, earthy, vegetal notes
  • Palate: Agave, citrus, black pepper, mineral
  • Alcohol content: 80 proof (40% ABV)
  • How to drink: Rocks

Siete Leguas Blanco boasts a complex nose of roasted agave, accented by black pepper, earth, and vegetal hints. The velvety palate is initially warm with black pepper, then explodes with rich, pure agave. The long finish showcases lingering sweetness and a touch of pepper.

Free from additives, Siete Leguas Blanco delivers an authentic, agave-forward experience best enjoyed neat, chilled, or on the rocks.

"While its quality may be top-shelf, the price might make it less ideal for cocktails.", suggests tequila expert Neil Coleman.

Siete Leguas Reposado: Sweet Agave with a Hint of Oak

Siete-Leguas-Reposado
  • Nose: Agave, oak, vanilla
  • Palate: Agave, oak, vanilla, pepper
  • Alcohol content: 80 proof (40% ABV)
  • How to drink: Neat, rocks

Siete Leguas Reposado opens with a sweet, delicate nose - agave takes center stage with whispers of oak, vanilla, and caramel. The taste mirrors the aroma, offering a delightful warmth and clean agave. Hints of oak, vanilla, and spice add complexity, leading to a long, sweet finish with lingering oak and a gentle, pleasing afterglow.

This top-shelf Reposado is known for its near-blanco character, with gentle barrel aging adding a touch of sweetness and subtle oak. It's my personal favorite, perfect for sipping neat or on the rocks with loved ones – simply too good for cocktails in my book.

Siete Leguas Añejo: A Tequila for Whiskey Lovers

siete-leguas-anejo
  • Nose: Vanilla, caramel, oak
  • Palate: Agave, maple syrup, chocolate, vanilla oak
  • Alcohol content: 80 proof (40% ABV)
  • How to drink: Rocks

Siete Leguas Añejo offers a whiskey-like experience with a twist. The nose boasts rich caramel, vanilla, and a touch of agave, hinting at its tequila nature. The oily, smooth palate explodes with agave, accented by vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, and oak. The lingering finish is sweet and warm, showcasing oak, vanilla, and a touch of butterscotch.

This complex Añejo bridges the gap between bourbon's richness and tequila's agave character, making it a top shelf choice.

Siete Leguas Añejo caters to whiskey enthusiasts seeking to explore agave spirits. Familiar flavors of caramel, vanilla, and oak mingle with the distinct agave taste. Plus, this 100% agave tequila boasts a hangover-free reputation, unlike some corn-based spirits – a reason I've personally cut back on bourbon and Scotch.

Seven Leagues D'Antaño: Extra Añejo Excellence

siete-leguas-dantano
  • Nose: Agave, oak, caramel, vanilla, dried fruit
  • Palate: Agave, oak, baking spice, chocolate
  • Alcohol content: 80 proof (40% ABV)
  • How to drink: Neat, rocks

Siete Leguas D'Antaño opens with agave and oak, followed by whispers of caramel, vanilla, and dried fruit. The taste is smooth and moderately sweet, with rich agave and oak leading the way. Hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and even dark chocolate emerge on the palate. The finish is long and gentle, leaving a lingering dried fruit and oak aftertaste.

D'Antaño excels in its smoothness and balanced profile. Despite 5 years of aging, the oak influence is subtle, allowing the agave and baking spice notes to take center stage. True to Siete Leguas' tradition, D'Antaño boasts a pure, additive-free experience, resulting in an exceptional Extra Añejo Tequila.

Siete Leguas Single Barrel: Aged Excellence

siete-leguas-single-barrel
  • Nose: Oak, dried fruit, vanilla, caramel
  • Palate: Agave, oak, baking spice, clove, dried fruit
  • Alcohol content: 80 proof (40% ABV)
  • How to drink: Neat, rocks

Siete Leguas Single Barrel stands out for its unique aging process - 8 years in a single, hand-selected barrel. This meticulous selection ensures only the finest barrels contribute to this special release.

The flavor profile echoes D'Antaño with notes of agave, oak, caramel, vanilla, and dried fruit. However, the extended aging adds a layer of maturity and dryness, creating a more refined and sophisticated experience. This Single Barrel Tequila caters to discerning palates, offering a well-rounded and nuanced taste journey.

How did I review Siete Leguas Tequila?

I run a pub and a liquor store, granting me extensive access to various spirits, in addition, I moonlight as an agave spirits distiller.

My evaluations include my insights and feedback from customers and patrons and Tequila expert opinions.

I also corroborate my views with online research to ensure accuracy.

Our ratings are determined primarily by four key factors: aroma, taste, finish, and value for money. While we do consider packaging, it is of lesser importance to us, as we prioritize the quality of the liquid inside over the aesthetics of the bottle.
