The nose is light, with a pleasant agave scent, followed by notes of citrus, black pepper and a grassy and earthy note.
On the palate, Lalo is rich in natural agave sweetness, with hints of citrus and vanilla, along cinnamon and black pepper. It has a creamy feel to it and very little warmth making it a nice drinker.
The finish is a bit short, though, with a baking spice touch making it satisfying.
Lalo Blanco Rating: is it a good Tequila?

Yes, Lalo is a good Tequila, not the most complex or interesting but a solid offering rich in natural flavors, free of additives, sweeteners and foreign chemicals.
This Tequila is an easy drinker, that aficionados of all levels will appreciate as it is smooth, yet tasty, rich in flavors of legit Tequila.
I have recently included Lalo in my roundup of the best Silver Tequilas under $50 making as it represents good value for the money.
How do you drink Lalo Tequila?
- Lalo is a nice and easy drinker so you can sip neat without any complications.
- It also works quite well on the rocks or out of the fridge.
- This is not the tequila I would use to make cocktails. I’d rather use something more punchy, peppery and cheaper.
- Same goes for Margaritas. Use something like Espolon Blanco that due to its price and somewhat warm and peppery profiles makes a better option for a tasty Marge.
Who makes Lalo Tequila?
Lalo stands for Eduardo in Spanish. This brand was launched by Eduardo Gonzalez, grandson of Don Julio Gonzalez who in 1942 established a somewhat successful Tequila brand named Don Julio.
Don Julio Tequila was acquired by the British spirits giant Diageo, who also owns top brands like Casamigos and Johnnie Walker and has turned Don Julio into a major household name.
It must be noted that Lalo is a contract brand, meaning that it does not own have its own distillery as it is crafted by a third party.
Lalo is distilled by Grupo Tequilero Mexico in the Mexican state of Jalisco along other 10 to 15 brands.
Lalo is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
How much is a bottle of Lalo Tequila?
Expect to find it in a $40 to $50 USD range putting above the average of a blanco Tequila that is around $30.
I see no problem with its current price as it provides a legit and tasty tequila that drinks nicely without the need of adding ice or chaser.
I’m yet to see this tequila in Mexico so I think it’s only offered in the United States.
What’s Lalo Tequila alcohol content?
Bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) the average at which tequila is bottled.
